Confines and Liberation
the mindfulness project
understanding how art and mindfulness can impact incarcerated youth
Elizabeth Josephson currently has an "artist in residency" at the Patan Museum in Kathmandu, Nepal. Ms. Josephson will be there for one year painting subjects with a focus on mindfulness in the monastic communities and in the boarding schools. She will be creating a series of portraits as she conducts mindfulness interviews with her subjects. “Through painting, drawing and video I will be doing an in-depth study of mindfulness practices. I will see how it applies to students and lamas of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, and then proceed to roll it back into the prison community.”
